April 04--Apr. 4--Missouri hammered Kansas State, 17-2, on Wednesday night.
The former conference rivals met for the first time since 2012. Missouri's Austin James had a game-high six RBIs at Taylor Stadium in Columbia, Missouri.
The Tigers scored in each of the game's first five innings, including a four-run third and five-run fourth before adding sixth in the fifth.
Missouri led 17-0.
K-State scored in the top of the seventh. Jordan Maxson, who reached on a base hit, scored on a passed ball. Cameron Thompson drew a bases-loaded walk in the eighth to record the only RBI for K-State.
Jeffrey Boggess and Dylan Phillips each had two hits for the Wildcats. Phillips had K-State's only extra-base-hit: a double in the eighth. Boggess, who entered as a pinch hitter, tallied the Cats' first hit off MU starter Tommy Springer in the fifth inning.
K-State starter Kasey Ford pitched into the third inning and took the loss. He allowed five runs -- four of them earned -- on four hits while walking three and striking out two.
Missouri's James finished 3-for-4 with a double and a homer to go with the six runs he drove in during his team's win.
Seven Wildcat relievers combined to issue 11 walks while striking out 10.
