Cadet -- real name Blaine Cameron Johnson -- was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities after the Toyota Prius he was in collided with a van at around 1:30 a.m. local time, Staffordshire Police confirmed in a post to Facebook.

The hip hop artist earned a following over the years both as a solo performer and for his work alongside fellow British rappers Krept and Konan.

Krept was Cadet's cousin.

"My life will never be the same again," Krept tweeted Saturday. "I love you and will forever miss you. I cant believe it. I am heartbroken. Rest in peace cuz. You finally started getting the recognition you deserved. Im so proud of you. My left lung. Im devestated and broken right now."
