Patrick Mahomes injury update: Chiefs QB says ankle isn't perfect, but feels 'pretty good'Sporting News — (Chelsea Howard)
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes admitted his ankle isn't perfect after aggravating it Sunday against the Colts, but he gave some indication the injury isn't that bad.
"I actually feel pretty good today," Mahomes told reporters Wednesday, before adding he looks forward to testing it during practice.
Mahomes tweaked his left ankle in the first half of the Chiefs' Week 5 loss, and then had the ankle stepped on in the second half.
"Obviously, it's going to be a little sore tomorrow," Mahomes told reporters after the game, "but for me, just kind of going into treatment and getting it better so I can be prepared for next week."
Both Mahomes and coach Andy Reid were optimistic that Mahomes' ankle wouldn't be an issue for long.
"Tweaked it just a little bit. I think he's going to be OK," Reid said. "He was pretty good at the end there. We'll see how that goes."
Mahomes, 24, has led Kansas City to a 4-1 record so far this season, completing 65.6% of his passes for 1,831 yards and 11 touchdowns with no interceptions.
The Chiefs host the Texans (3-2) Sunday with kickoff set for 1 p.m. ET.
